Day Counter
From Monday, October 26, 2026 to New Year's Day, Friday, January 1, 2027, the day counter counts 67 days, or 68 counting both dates. On the calendar that is 2 months and 6 days, and in weeks it is 9 weeks and 4 days.

Days between
- Counting both dates The start date counted as day 1 as well as the end date, for how many days a trip, a course or a streak lasts.
- 68
- In years, months and days Counted by whole calendar months first, then the leftover days. That is why this cannot be derived from the day count alone. Months are not all the same length.

- Months (average) Using the Gregorian average month. The calendar figure above is the exact answer; this one is for comparison.

- Monday, October 26, 2026
- End date Day 1 of 2027, ISO week 53.
- Friday, January 1, 2027
- Leap days in between Each one adds a day the plain year arithmetic would miss.

- Every date is handled in UTC, so the answer does not depend on where the server or the reader is. A local-time implementation gives a different result either side of midnight.
- The day count is exclusive of the start date and inclusive of the end: from the 1st to the 2nd is one day. The business-day count includes both ends, which is the convention for 'how many working days is this project'.
How the Date Calculator works
A day counter, or date counter, answers one question with two right answers, and the difference is a single day. From October 26, 2026 to January 1, 2027 there are 67 days between the two dates. Counting both of them, October 26 as day 1 and January 1 as the last day, there are 68. The first is the gap; the second is how long something lasts.
Use the gap for a countdown. On October 26 New Year's Day is 67 days away, and that number falls by one each morning until it reaches zero on the day itself. A countdown day counter is this subtraction run again every day.
Use the count of both dates for a span that includes its first day: a trip from the 3rd to the 10th of a month is 7 days between and 8 days away from home, a 30-day challenge that starts on the 1st ends on the 30th, and a streak that began today is already 1 day long.
To count by hand, take the days left in the starting month, add the whole months in between, then add the days into the final month. Here October has 5 days left after the 26th, November has 30, December 31 and January contributes 1: 5 + 30 + 31 + 1 = 67. That method never needs to know about leap years except when February is one of the whole months, which is where hand counts most often go wrong by a day.
The same span reads differently in other units. 67 days is 9 weeks and 4 days, 1,608 hours, or 2 months and 6 days counted by the calendar, October 26 to December 26 and then six more days. Of the 68 days counting both ends, 50 are weekdays and 18 fall on a Saturday or Sunday, so a project with those dates has 50 business days before any holidays come off.
For a countdown from today, set the start date to today's date and the end date to the event. For days already passed since something happened, put the event first and today second; the count is the same arithmetic with the dates the other way round.
Every date is handled in UTC, so the answer does not change with the time zone it is read in. A counter that used local time could be a day out for anyone on the other side of midnight from the server.
Date Calculator FAQ
How do I count the days between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later one in whole days. From October 26, 2026 to January 1, 2027 is 67 days. Add 1 if the first day counts as well, which gives 68.
Does a day counter include the start date?
The standard count does not: from the 1st to the 2nd is one day. When the question is how long something lasts, such as a trip or a course, count both ends and add one. This calculator shows both figures.
How many days until January 1, 2027?
67 days from Monday, October 26, 2026. That is 9 weeks and 4 days, or 2 months and 6 days on the calendar. Set the start date to today for the count from now.
How many weekdays are in that span?
50 weekdays from October 26, 2026 to January 1, 2027 counting both ends, with 18 weekend days. Public holidays in the span come off separately: in the US that is Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day itself.
